About our Kiwanis club

Established in 1939, the Kiwanis Club of Shasta Dam has proudly served the Shasta Lake and greater Redding communities for more than 80 years. Our mission is simple and heartfelt: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families through hands-on service, partnership, and compassion.

Our club supports a wide range of programs focused on youth, education, and community well-being. Through our Food for Kids Backpack Program, we help ensure students have access to nutritious food over weekends during the school year. Our literacy initiatives—including literacy nights and book distributions—promote a love of reading by placing books directly into the hands of children at no cost to families.

Each year, we proudly award scholarships to local high school students, helping them take the next step toward their educational goals. We also serve our community through events like the Family Carnival and Health Fair at the Boomtown Festival, collaborating with local nonprofits to create a fun, welcoming, and informative experience for families.

In addition, our club raises funds and provides support through community food service projects and by sponsoring local organizations and schools through our foundation. We believe in lifting one another up and creating opportunities where every child and family feels valued and supported.

And this is just the beginning—there’s always more to do when it comes to serving our community.

The Kiwanis Mission & Vision

Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects

Kiwanis Service

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.

Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
